Casey B. Wilson

Casey Wilson, a Toccoa native, is an accomplished associate attorney with a wealth of experience in various areas of law, specializing in family law, criminal defense, and civil litigation.  Casey’s experience in the legal community runs the gamut, in that she began her career as a paralegal and then a law clerk, which experiences formed the foundation for her philosophy and work ethic as an attorney.  Before joining SANDERS, RANCK & SKILLING, P.C, Casey served as a Staff Attorney with the Mountain Judicial Circuit, where she honed her skills in legal research and writing, while maintaining strict confidentiality under the guidance of Mountain Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judges Oliver and Smith.


Her previous experience also includes practicing locally, even establishing her own solo practice which she merged with another local firm before working as a Staff Attorney.   During her tenure as a licensed attorney, she has represented clients in court – both in bench trials and jury trials – and has appellate experience in drafting appellate briefs, as well as advocating for clients seeking post-conviction relief in motions for new trials and civil habeas proceedings.  Her work in the legal community showcases her dedication to vigorous advocacy for her clients, while conducting herself ethically and maintaining a high level of professionalism.


Throughout her career, Casey has demonstrated a strong commitment to her clients and her local community, as well as a dedication to upholding the principles of justice. Her diverse experience across different areas of law has equipped her with a comprehensive skill set, making her a valuable asset to the legal profession in Toccoa, Georgia.


Education

Casey graduated from Stephens County High School in 2001, and thereafter obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Georgia Southern University, before going on to earn her Master’s Degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2008. During that time, Casey had the opportunity to also study at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, and Sciences Po in Paris, France. Afterwards, Casey interned with the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget and then worked as a paralegal for a number of years before deciding to pursue her law degree. Casey attended law school at Georgia State University – College of Law, earning her Juris Doctorate degree in 2019. She was sworn in to the State Bar in November, 2019.

Community Involvement

Casey has served her local community volunteering as a past CASA Volunteer in the Mountain Judicial Circuit Juvenile Court, providing legal representation for indigent clients in Juvenile Court in both the Mountain and Northern Judicial Circuits, and filling in as Solicitor Pro Tem in both Habersham and Stephens County State Courts. Casey also served as a board member from 2019 through 2021 on the Board of Directors for Homestead Recovery Residence for Women. Casey has also volunteered as an assistant coach for her daughter’s 10U and 11U Habersham Raiders Rec Cheer Team.
